Ingredients

10 cups all-purpose flour
6 cups granulated white sugar
3 cups semolina flour
1/4 cup baking powder
1/4 cup turmeric, ground
8 cups water
3 cups canola oil
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup sesame seeds, white

Preparation

  1. In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, semolina flour, baking powder and turmeric.
  2. Add water and 3 cups canola oil to mixer. mix until a smooth batter is formed and no clumps remain.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 1/2 sheet pan with 1/2 cup canola oil, ensuring sides are also greased. Portion batter into greased pan.
  4. Top batter with sesame seeds and bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake is golden brown and baked through.
  5. Cool cake completely. Cut half sheet pan into 4 rows by 6 rows to make 24 pieces.
