Transforming food service in Canada
Forward Food is a global initiative designed to increase the availability of plant-based options in the food service industry. Forward Food is a FREE program driven by Humane Society International/Canada and Friends of Humane Society International. Launched in Canada in 2017, we have supported dozens of food service operations and helped companies succeed with their plant-based food goals. Our expert team helps food service professionals put plants at the centre of the plate, improving sustainability, health, food costs and animal welfare. We work with food service management companies, campuses, hospitals, restaurants and more. If you have a food menu, we are here to help!
Why work with Forward Food?
Is your food service operation looking to be more sustainable? Do you want to add more plant-based options to your menu to meet growing consumer demand? Are you located in Canada? If so, we would love to work with you.
Sustainability
Plant-forward menus have a much lower impact on the planet and are part of a healthy diet.
Cost Savings
Working with Forward Food has saved organizations we work with up to 93% in food costs.
Consumer Demand
43% of Canadian consumers are actively trying to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diets.
Building a better food system, together
We ask all of the institutions and businesses we work with to sign onto the Forward Food Pledge and make their menus 20% more plant-based within approximately two years of signing. This achievable and impactful goal demonstrates a strong commitment to better, more sustainable food and we are here to help Canadian food service professionals meet this target – every step of the way.
